ALTA League Tennis MatchesSugar Creek Golf & Tennis has 10 hard courts. Hard courts are generally considered a good option for all types of players and are designated a “Democratic Court” by the International Tennis Foundation. They are the most used in North America. Hard courts are durable, dry faster and hold up well over the years. Play is faster because there is little energy absorption. Players can apply many types of spins and the ball tends to bounce high.
Sugar Creek Golf & Tennis has 4 clay courts. Clay courts are most used in Europe and South America. Clay courts favor players who can play defense. Players preserve more energy on a clay court since they can slide into their shots instead of coming to a complete stop. The bounce of the ball is also higher and slower than that of a hard court. Clay courts take away many of the advantages of a big serve, making it harder for serve-based players to dominate the game. While they are less expensive to build, they need frequent maintenance.
